“The Highwayman” is a narrative-driven action-adventure game set in a fantasy-tinged version of the British Isles during the tumultuous 1600s. Players step into the boots of a young highwayman with a mysterious past, navigating a world where folklore and reality blur. Combining stealth, exploration, and combat, the game invites players on a journey through misty moors, ancient forests, and bustling cities, uncovering a secret history that could alter the fate of the realm.
Setting and Story
In the chaos of the Wars of the Three Kingdoms, our hero, Finn, raised by a band of noble highwaymen tasked with protecting the innocent and battling supernatural forces, has come of age—and he has questions. Questions made even more pressing after an attempt is made on his life by a creature out of a nightmare… and his learning it was not the first. As if robbing carriages, fending off corrupt thief-takers and rival gangs, and battling were-beasts, specters and ghouls wasn’t a risky enough lifestyle: now Finn has a supernaturally large target on his back.
Surviving this will take all of his training, his burgeoning new abilities, and the help of loyal allies like his mentor Eamon O’Shea, the enigmatic druid Cathal, and the fierce Scottish warrior Isobel “the beautiful rebel” Grant.
As Finn unravels the mystery of his lineage—a heritage that entwines the fate of kingdoms with the hidden world of magic and monsters—Finn will come face to face with enemies both human and inhuman, and confront a growing evil that threatens… everything.
